Roland-Story Varsity Volleyball vs. PCM

By Caitlyn F.

On Monday night, October 7th, the Roland-Story volleyball team played a conference match against the PCM Mustangs. It was senior citizen night for the student section and the stands were full. This was a big day for the team because it was senior night for the six seniors on the team, Kate Berggren, Caty Erichsen, Kennedy Petersen, Paige Curtis, Josie Ramus, and Kamryn Lande. These girls have been a big part of this team, and it was an emotional night for the whole team.

After the seniors were recognized, the captains from both teams were called to flip the coin to decide who would serve first. PCM won the coin toss. The first serve went to senior Josie Ramus who passed a perfect pass right to setter Miley Geise who then set it to Kamryn Lande for the middle kill. The next couple of points went back and forth between the two teams and then Roland Story finally went on a little run of serve aces. The score was now 4-1 Roland Story is up. Norse was up by three the entire game until they reached 15 points. They started to pull away at this time. By the end of this first set, Roland-Story won 25-18. Brookelyn Jondle had the most kills during the set with 5 kills.

The second set started with Roland-Story serving first. This set started the same way with Lande for the middle kill. Geise went on a serving run with the first seven points because PCM couldn’t get it back over the net. The score soon reached 15-11 with Roland Story winning. PCM started to make a comeback but couldn’t pull it off. Kamryn Lande had the most kills during this set with 4. Coach Molly Geise started to have some seniors sub in for starters. This set ended with Roland Story on top 25-16.

The third set started with PCM serving. Brookelyn Jondle had the most kills during this set. The starters went in first, and then Coach Geise subbed in all of the seniors at one point since it was senior night. Roland Story also won this set 26-24, but it was a close one.

Senior Kamryn Lande and sophomore Brookelyn Jondle led with the most kills during this game. The game finished in three sets 25-18, 25-16, and 26-24. Roland Story leaves this game with a winning record of 7-0 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
