Gilbert Basketball Showcase

On January 25th, Gilbert High School hosted the annual Gilbert Showcase that housed many outstanding games. With many ranked matchups, many people tuned in to watch. The teams that attended were Grandview Christian, Clear Lake, Des Moines Christian, Carrol Kuemper, Roland- Story, Carrol, Gilbert, and DCG. The games had full coverage by IA Basketball and IA Sportz because of these many ranked matchups. 

The first game of the day was between two undefeated teams, #3 Grandview Christian Thunder and #2 Clear Lake Lions. This game would strip one of the teams of their undefeated title. The Lions blew them out of the water with a win of 70-49. A sophomore, Jaxson McIntire from Clear Lake was the team’s leading scorer with 18 points. This game moved Clear Lake from the #2 ranking to the state’s leading #1. 

Following that head turning game was the Des Moines Christian Lions against the Carroll Kuemper Knights. Des Moines Christian held the #16 ranking while the Knights had the #2. A junior from Carrol Kuemper, Brock Badding,  led the Knights  with 18 points. While the Des Moines Christian Lions came out with a loss, Senior Seaton Ingram led the game with 21 points. The final score being 78-72. A score that came down to the last minute, keeping fans on edge of their seats. 

The last two games of the day consisted of unranked teams, Carrol against Roland-Story and DCG against Gilbert. Carroll secured the win against Roland-Story with a score of 63-40. Junior Jared Mohr led the Tigers with 13 points. Lastly DCG had the win over Gilbert with a score of 66-57. Kyle Cason, a senior for DCG, took over the game with 36 points.
